Top 5 Most Satisfying Wins of the LaFleur Era

Since Matt LaFleur took over as head coach of the Packers, fans have been able to enjoy plenty of wins and just a handful of losses, all while Rodgers returned to MVP form and the team fell just shy of the Super Bowl in back-to-back seasons.

Heading into what's now expected to be another set of highlight reels, let's recap the most satisfying Packers wins of the LaFleur era.

What a way for Matt LaFleur to debut his head coaching career in Green Bay, facing the rival Bears that entered the 2019 season as an uncommon NFC North favorite. No one quite knew what to expect in that game - certainly not the dominant defensive performance that was ultimately delivered, ending with Adrian Amos intercepting his former quarterback. What's sweeter than a road win at Soldier that quickly erases the Bears' status as contenders?

Toward the tail end of the 2019 regular season, the Packers entered yet another crucial road game inside the division, just a game up on the Vikings. Hungry for their first win at U.S. Bank Stadium, the Packers' defense came up big yet again, holding the Vikings to 10 points in the first half and then pitching a shutdown in the second. The Packers' first sweep of the Vikings since 2014 made for a particularly satisfying division-clinching win.

Heading into the 2019 postseason, there was some sense around the NFL that the 13-3 Packers weren't all that deserving of the 2-seed, hardly better than the 13-win Saints and gritty Seahawks. Indeed, Russell Wilson and the Seahawks lived up to the 4.5 spread set by Vegas, coming within striking distance of the Packers before Jimmy Graham put the game on ice with a first down conversion in crunch time.

The Packers' 2020 trip to the Big Easy was a game that every fan circled on their calendar before the season began. It was Rodgers versus Brees in what was ultimately their last meeting. Having never won in the Superdome, the game carried extra meaning for Rodgers, who had beaten every other NFC team on the road over his career. Without Davante Adams, the offense still rolled the Packers to a victory, which ended up granting them the 1-seed over the Saints in the NFC.

Having had beaten mostly non-contenders throughout 2020, Packers fans were anxious to see whether they could handle a playoff-caliber team just two weeks before the beginning of the postseason. Not only did they win but it was an utter blowout in every aspect of the game. Even more satisfying was the flash of potential shown by rookie running back A.J. Dillon in the glorious Lambeau Field snow.
